Comments:Hello, My mom grew up nearby Alessandro Moretti in West Virginia-- her family (Brouse) was apparently friends with him. We have lots of pieces of glass that he made for them, I even have a couple pieces which are signed, although most of them were kind of spontaneous pieces of art. Mom remembers watching him making pieces and a gorgeous vase he made for my grandparents as a wedding gift. I've inherited all the glass birds he made for my grandmother. They have brought me much delight. Anyway, I just wanted to share. I wish you the best.

Comments:Did Roberto Moretti make glass art also? I have a glass snail that is signed Roberto Moretti on the bottom. I live on the west coast in California and purchased the glass snail from a local flea market. Any chance it is his work?

Comments:I spent my early childhood next door to Sandy and Lydia. My parents, John and Margaret Brouse, were good friends with them for many years. I remember both "stealing" cherries from their tree with their children, Albert and Yvonne and spending time watching Sandy creating marvels in his home glass forge. We treasure the small pieces he gave us over the years. And I have particular pleasure in the crystal/rose madder mama elephant and 2 babies he gave me as a wedding present the last time I saw them. He always called me "Mary Margaret" and I will always remember his warm smile and generous kindness.

Comments:My mother worked at Pilgrim Glass in the early 1970s. I also remember going to the factory as a 5th grader with Lavalette Elementary. My mother has many wonderful pieces that she proudly displays. Truly artistic work by the Morettis.

Comments:Beautiful art!!! I was curious about Mr. Moretti's work... I just happened to have a friend who owns two beautiful Swans, signed by Alessandro Moretti.... I think they are beautiful.. but I dont see any of them on photos or information on regards to a line or art with them on it. Can you tell me where can I find more information? how much would they be worth now? It is history and art that needs to be appreciated and protected. Beautiful!!

Comments:I have three clear glass pieces of the Altus bird that were done by Roberto and I am looking for a buyer for them. They are limited pieces made as awards. They are great pieces of a bird that flies the highest of any bird in the world. If interested, get in touch. The have value, so I am only looking for real collectors willing to pay the value.

Comments:We just came from our favorite antique store, (which has over 80 dealers) and purchased a beautiful glass bird. At home we noticed it was signed by Richardo M. So began my search and luckily I found your interesting, wonderful families history. The signature is not something that looks stamped but more likely to have been hand etched. Is that a possibility? And could you possibly tell us a time span as to when it may have been made. My husband is 1/2 Italian (Marazzi) and the fact that this figurine may have come from such a rich family legacy means will enjoy it even more......and will be on the hunt for more! Thank you for your time, Sincerely, Mrs.Christina Shea

Comments:I remember "Mr. Moretti" as I called him from my childhood. I was maybe 4 or 5 years old in the late 80s and he would talk with me when I was outside playing. He would always bring me glass animals he had made. I am so proud to have a snail,a horse and a beautiful whale paperweight to name just a few items he gave me. He was such a kind man. I remember being fascinated with him and would beg my mother to let me go visit him. I never knew his story though and I am so amazed again at the age of 26 to read about this amazingly talented and kind man. I am blessed to have art work that his hands have touched and to hold such a huge part of history! So glad I found this web page.

Comments:While working aboard in the early '90's I was able to travel to Venice and then over to Murano where I purchased 3 Franco Moretti coloured glass bottles with tops. Since returning home to New Zealand they have pride of place on my sun drenched kitchen window box. It is here that I can constantly enjoy their colours, tones, difference and beauty. Of all the things I have collected on my travels these are my most prized possessions, they give a sense of comfort because of their roundness and I feel they are part of me.
